In this issue of Expat News by Expat Rebel, Home Renovation is entering its last week (I’ve said that before) plus Quintan Roo Violence and Mexico Time Changes tomorrow. 📰 - Chris
Quintana Roo Violence
Mexico sent their National Guard into Quintana Roo due to the Cartel violence. The violence was getting so bad that tourists are being killed at tourist locations.
When Cartels murder each other the government keeps out of the way.
When tourists are gunned down in the middle of the Tulum Mayan Ruin and countries start to issue serious warnings to their citizens well then the Mexican Government finally takes action.
About half the income made by Mexico comes thru tourism from Quintana Roo.
My only recommendation is to avoid going to Quintana Roo outside of the big resorts, which are very safe and fortified.
A dip in tourism money is the only thing that is ever taken seriously.
Go to other safe parts of Mexico in the meantime. Yucatan State including Meridan and the Yucatan Beach Communities are much safer. In fact, Merida has rated the second safest area in all the Americas behind Quebec Canada. Safer than US cities.
Let Quintana Roo get their act together. Give it some time.
I love living full-time in Mexico and I feel very safe in Yucatan far away from all the violence.

Mexico Fall Time Zone Changes in 2021
Except for two areas that do not observe Daylight Savings Time, Mexico will set its clocks back one hour in the fall of 2021. (DST)
In the fall of 2021, Mexico, with the exception of two states that do not follow Daylight Savings Time (DST), will turn back the clocks by one hour.
On the last Sunday in October 2021, the majority of Mexico sets its clocks back one hour.
On the first Sunday in November 2021, some portions of Mexico will set their clocks back one hour (in line with the U.S.).
In 2021, the Mexican states of Sonora and Quintana Roo will not observe Daylight Saving Time.
In 2021, DST will not be observed in the Mexican states of Sonora (which borders Arizona and New Mexico in the United States) and Quintana Roo (which includes the tourist resorts of Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and the islands of Isla Mujeres and Cozumel).
DST will expire on Sunday, October 31st, 2021 in most of Mexico (excluding the states of Sonora and Quintana Roo) and Baja California Sur, when the clocks will be _moved_ back one hour at 2 a.m.
At 2 a.m., the state of Baja California (not to be confused with Baja California Sur) and the Mexican cities closest to the US border (including Juárez, Reynosa, and Matamoros) set their clocks back one hour.
Changes in the US and European Clock Time
Because not all of Mexico's clock-time change dates are synchronized with U.S. or European clock-time change dates, double-check your times if you're traveling or making appointments between Mexico, the United States, or Europe this spring and autumn. This is especially important because flights and other public transportation systems always operate at local times.
Mexico Cell Phone Registry
The law about having to file your fingerprints in order to have a cell phone in Mexico isn’t going to be implemented. Too many privacy issues.

Learning Spanish
I highly recommend the Mexican Moms Review YouTube Channel as it teaches about Mexican culture but there is a lot of Spanish as well to learn from. I learn Spanish while learning about Rock n’ Roll in Latin America. Highly recommended show as well. It rocked. 😆
If you want to learn Spanish and enjoy all of Latin America and Spain then start right now. Get our recommended Spanish Audio and PDF Class and get working on your Spanish, it takes time so why not start now.
Virtual Mailbox
The day after I decided to leave the US and see the world slowly I got a mail forwarding service, aka a Virtual Mailbox. I need a place that could receive my US mail and scan it so I could read it from anywhere in the world. Now nearly four and a half years later I just love how easy it makes my life.
I get an email when I get mail. I click on the link and read my mail. I save the PDF files for banking and tax stuff for my account in DropBox and then I’m done.
My favorite Mail Forwarding Service
Watching TV via VPN in a foreign country
When you are physically outside the US or Canada (or your home country) Netflix, Amazon Prime and other streaming services have different catalogs depending on the country.
For instance, Frasier is one of my favorite shows, I’ve seen all the episodes three times, yes all 11 years three times. So Frasier is only available on Netflix US and not Netflix Mexico. So I have to use a VPN to look like I’m in the US for me to watch the show on Netflix.
When I turn on my VPN and hit refresh I now get Netflix US and can watch that plus many other things.
Get our recommended VPN and watch what you want no matter where you are located.
My Business Courses
I’m retired from clients and only involved in my company. So these courses are my advice on being an entrepreneur and business owner.
